WPHA ANNUAL MEETING - Minutes

Tues, Feb, 28th, 2006,  7:00-8:15 pm

        I.                Welcome and Introduction of current Officers and Street Captains

 II.                 Budget 2005/2006:

a.       Refer to Financial Report as of Dec 31, 2005 – DID NOT GO IN THE RED!

1.      Worked on Dues Collection until Dec 31 to cover yr

2.      Membership dues just BARELY cover the basics

1.      Our LARGEST expense is the Lawn Maintenance/Water/Electricity to run the Sprinkler system 

2.      Attorney Expense for Walnut Hill/Central Redevelopment

3.      Most everything else has been donated

4.      Bare bones operating budget

III.               Membership & Directories:

a.       Membership - Increase from 55% to 70%.  - Thank the street captains – this is the reason that we didn’t go in the red.

b.      Directories – Thank the Beckers for the printing service

1.      Wonderful information – thank you to Elaine Looney for all her work on this and selling ads

2.      Directories passed out.  Close to 250 people listed.

3.      For CHANGEs please please contact Monica Austin

4.      Looking for someone to head this up next time, the template is there now:  sell ads, make improvements to current directory, and work with the printer – Don & Barbara Averitt volunteered. 

IV.              Crime Watch Process:

a.       Lila Marsh - lmarsh@velaw.com  - This is the channel for reporting crimes that have been committed on your property or suspicious activity AS WELL as calling 911.  Thank you to Lila for doing this for the neighborhood.

b.      Possibility of Cameras – Following a Lake Highlands story where a neighborhood installed security cameras for around $4-5k.  See if this deters crime for them.

c.       Julie Schwartz – First Watch – This security service for a fee is available now.  See WPHA website link for more info.  The more people that join, the lower the cost for Windsor Park residents.

d.      Reminder - Keep up newspapers and fliers off doors.  This is a RED  FLAG you are NOT HOME.

e.       Asking for a crime watch volunteer to ck website that lists crimes in the neighborhood – updated monthly – This person would proactively look into signs, cameras etc. 

V.                 Initial Stages of Website Development:

a.       Jane Guerinni and  Elaine Looney have been looking into this for us.

b.      Looking for someone to head this up - Craig Sutton volunteered.  Website is www.wphadallas.com 

VI.              Wall Status:

a.       History - Worked on PID route most all of 2005.  PIDs cancelled for neighborhoods late Nov 2005.  Thank Tommy Marino for all his hard work on this last year. 

b.      Next Steps – Bob Marsh volunteered to look into this.   

VII.            Dues increase to $75  -  Motion to increase dues to $75:

a.       Vote to approve increase - Approved.

b.      Dues email notices going out - Due by March  31, 2006
